Type Approved Adjustable Coupling

Post by Tow Itch on Sun 01 Apr 2012, 2:49 pm

Nose up towing results from the ball height of towbars being increased over the years.

An adjustable coupling might have been a solution but until now no there have been no type approved adjustable couplings.

Whitter now announce one. Only thing is the set up is only type approved if fitted to a Whitter bar.

I'd just found the price and was about to post it.
A good bit less effort but that amount of money would be the best part of the cost of uprating the suspension and raising the height.

be nice if the detachable tow bars could be bought in different sizes to suit different trailers.

Just the same problem as everyone else except Cazz because she runs a clasic.
At some point tow ball heights increased, hence all Dandys ride nose up.

If your car was first registered after 1st August 1998 then fitting a drop plate isn't legal. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Motorhomes, goods vehicles and even some 4 X 4 vehicles are not limited by this rule but for the vast majority of us there is no cheap fix.

Unless like me you have an old car. Alas a drop plate low enough to clear the bar fittings means my jockey wheel bounces off speed humps.

Unclamp the jockey wheel assembly and put it in the boot, you don't use it when you're hitched up Smile
