Dandy trailer tent Cover - legs in or out ? Empty Dandy trailer tent Cover - legs in or out ?

Post by Helen on Thu 28 Jun 2012, 2:15 pm

We pull our dandy cover over the legs, it keeps them secure for travelling. Our old cover was the original Dandy one and we also used to pull that over the legs. I noticed that lots of people leave the legs on the outside of the cover and just secure with the bungee. You can see what I mean on the picture below and that one is an original dandy cover, so what do you do with your legs for travelling lol!

Fair point but I've never noticed any scratches from the legs ....... just from the new trailer cover not having a protective layer over the eyelets.

1 million percent in.....a long bumpy journey might drag them out and cause undue stress.

Our cover isn't original I dont think, but Ben has a leverage system to put it on properly....

Legs out to prevent damage to body work. Sad Also if the cover is over the legs spray from your towing vehicle can get up under the cover. We wrap the cover bungee round the leg ends to stop them escaping Smile .

No its not the original cover but it was made by Riva. I always travel with my legs under cover....you wouldn't want to see my knees! ;-)

I've been thinking about this ..... there are pro's and cons to both ways of doing this but I've decided to stick with putting the legs under the cover because if not I'd be worrying every time we took it out on the road ...... I have no obvious scratches on the paintwork from the legs yet but to prevent any in the future I've decided to stick a thick sock onto the top of each leg before we put the cover on ...... I can just imagine peoples faces when we take the cover off lol!

As I have gas struts fitted then the spray problem is not relevant (It's a real problem , but the legs don't really make a difference, the struts do and can't be bypassed) all the pictures from dandy, from the beginning, show legs on the inside, so I'll stay with it until proved otherwise Smile

I think the out to protect the paintwork is more relevant with the six than the others,on our delta we had the legs inside the cover with no damage to the paintwork but with the style of the six it looks more likley.

The green one has legs out as they would never fit under. The brown one has the legs under, they seem to more comfortable hidden. affraid

With the Designer it was always legs out but bungee over to keep them secured.

Now, with the Destiny, I'm afraid that I'm legless Dandy trailer tent Cover - legs in or out ? 2042623811

I agree, what stops the legs coming out if not the PVC?

I've seen people use the bungee on the cover to secure the legs, I feel far better having them tucked in the cover.

With them out, all that can happen is the legs slide out from the body. The bottoms can't fall out. The bungees shoud be plenty to hold them in. Having said that, mine are in as on the Riva video and as Ian put them when I bought it.
