Our New Dandy Dimension

Post by stevie9398 on Sat 22 Sep 2012, 12:36 am

We were really fond of our 1995 Designer but decided in the end we needed a bit more space for the four of us.
Our Dimension has an acrylic awning that zips onto the Dandy.

Steve,
Where did you get your lovely awning from? We have a small non riva awning on our Dimension, andca large mon riva option too but love yours.

Hi Steve
I took that photo some time ago!
It's an original Riva Acrylic awning. For a period of time Riva offered these instead of the more usual PVC awning. They were made by the French company Marechal. The side walls are acrylic and the roof is a lightweight PVC.
My previous Dandy had a Dandy PVC awning. In comparison I'd say the acrylic awning is a better fit as it zips to the Dandy roof and can be tensioned out but it takes longer to put up with tensioning and all the extra pegging points.

Do you have a zip on your dimension. Our designer only had a sun canopy but also had the zip for an acrylic Marechal awning like Steve's. Ian said they often put zips on just in case if the dandy was going to a show. It meant they cold sell it with the awning option.

If you do have the zip, TVS may be able to make you an awning simply by matching the zip and fitting on some eyes for the poles. They have converted a dandy PVC sun canopy to a full awning. See here:
