My adjustable legs

Post by Guzzimik on Tue 25 Sep 2012, 1:53 pm

One of the problems I found was that the supporting legs would some times slip, so this is how I got around it. Firstly I got rid of the plastic feet as a couple had broken, turned the inner leg upside down and welded(!) some stainless steel discs to them. I then drilled two holes in the outer leg 1/2in apart. Next I took the inner legs and marked them at 1in intervals. Putting the inner leg back inside the outer I chose the top hole to work from, slid the inner leg till I could see the first mark and then drilled through, moved on to the next mark until they were all drilled.
For the pins I took a couple of old wire tent pegs, cut and bent them into shape.
Now I can adjust the legs with 1/2in adjustments and when the legs are put away the pins stay in place and eradicates the possibility of the legs coming loose in transit

The single hole nearer the foot is for transit

The foot pad is for a motorcycle side stand.

Hope this is useful

This looks like a good idea. We have noticed that our inner legs have become squashed with use over the years and this would cure that problem. Smile

I always wondered why other campers have legs with holes in and Dandy's don't ........ seems a much more secure option and would stop my bed going bump in the night. Very Happy

My 2001 has you just slide the adjustable leg up and just screw the adjuster knob into the hole that's in the leg (STD from new on mine )

So are the feet not normally welded on discs?
Only reason I ask, is ours are exactly the same as in your picture (minus all the holes - they only have one at the bottom to allow the screw to go fully into the leg when storing to prevent possible slipping of the foot out in transit.

Our orange Dandy is the same as yours, but the newer (still old ones Laughing ) are different.
