I assume everyone else is away camping in the snow so let's hog it while we can Cool

Ian Dury ... Absolutely fantastic cheers What a legend.

Here's another ... perhaps less well known but well worth a listen in my humble opinion -

Roky Erickson - Bloody Hammer

I normally use the convention of using surnames but in this case as it's a made up name. plus I love the classics.

Sod it ... I love this thread so if it takes two posts in a row to keep it alive then I'm going to be greedy.

If you don't share my tastes then let's have yours Laughing

For various reasons this band were very important to me in my teenage years. When I listen back on the music now I realise it wasn't quite as fantastic as I might have thought then, but I consider the original drummer to be both technically accomplished and one of the nicest guys ever to have walked the earth (I didn't know him directly but I am acquainted with one of his relatives). Like Phil he is no longer with us but is remembered fondly by many...

Mangum and Kex Gorin ...

Phil Lynott Old Town I never knew it was a Phil Lynott song for ages. I knew the Coors then heard a different version by Phill and though I don't know who this is but they aren't half doing a stonking Phil Lynott impression only to realise it was Phil. Then you listen to the lyrics and you wonder how you never realised. A star and a half and always generous to fans.

Nazareth with This Flight Tonight Then as a bonus the town/song they named themselves after in a clip from a wonderful film and an even better album.

There's life in the old thread yet cheers

A sneaky little "Waltz" from Mr Itch - well done that man - definitely the best concert film ever made.

And Billy Ocean! - took me straight back to memories of school discos and teenage parties. That put me in mind of another much-loved song of mine that talks about those times, and then I realised it's a "P" so I can post it next - perfect link Esermalda Cool

People are often surprised when I tell them that these are one of my favourite bands, but ever since those distinctive opening notes of 'West End Girls' first made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, I've loved nearly everything they've done.

Pet Shop Boys - Being Boring

Missed out on t, still save that for another day.
Quiet Riot with come on feel the noise, great. I must put on Ronan Keating's version of Fairytale Of New York at some point.

So for W not one of my favourite artists but this is how you write a pop song and this is the dictionary definition of a summer pop video.

So here it is the second best song featuring the sound of footsteps and a car in the intro.

Wham and Club Tropicana

Well Mr Itch, your over-enthusiasm for Andrew Ridgeley in his swimming trunks and cowboy hat has got us in a bit of a muddle. I'm just glad I didn't post the actual video for 'Being Boring' Embarassed

But no matter whatsoever as we've had yet more great music. Thompson Twins are a favourite of Mrs Peridot although not ones I ever particularly warmed to. I prefer the stuff George Michael has done in his post-Wham days but they were the quintessential pop band - I think 'Careless Whisper' is probably the best pop song ever written.

I love 'My Perfect Cousin' and was 'Teenage Kicks' the overall best single ever? Or was SLF's 'Barbed Wire Love' even better. No, of course it wasn't but who cares they're both great artists - perhaps it's not surprising the political situation around them gave rise to some spats (bit like the one between Paul Brady and Christy Moore) but it's probably of little interest to most of us.

Anyway, enough waffle, there's a Void to be filled and I'm going to cheat a bit here to keep things in the same geographical area -
