Hello

Puzzled by the question. You have a light blue Dandy and you want ply to form a kitchen?
Is the kitchen completely missing on the Dandy you have or is it just the sink/cooker unit?
Do you have a sink/ cooker unit to go into the carcass you want to build?
Are you wanting to build an exact facsimile of the Dandy kitchen or a passably good alternative?
If you want to build an exact facsimile of the Dandy unit then the early Light blues used a desperately thin ply and the latter units had moulded fronted cupboard units.
Ah I think the penny has just dropped. You want the very thin specialist plywood used?
Loads of timber merchants will supply ply. So more pointedly if it's this very thin ply you wan't do you know the specification?
If you don't know the spec then we need to find that out first to see who may be able to supply it.
To your very broad question of who can supply faced plywood within 30 Miles of Manchester? I've always had excellent service from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] but they only supply down to 3mm unless it's to special order and I'm sure someone within a couple of miles of you would be the same.
If it's just the sink/cooker have you seen the kitchen unit Phoenix made for [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]? Don't know what spec ply they used for that but suspect it wasn't an ultralight ply.
So have I started to understand what it is you want or did you mean something else?

Sorry realise who I am speaking to now. You have a Destiny. All the kitchen carcass material is a bit thicker on that. e.g. if we were looking at the counter top I'd not even know if that were ply or laminate covered chipboard or laminate covered MDF.
Which bit do you need or which bit do you want it to match to?
is this pertaining to your kitchen or is it to do with getting your new toilet cubicle to match?

Thanks for your comments but I am not makeing a kitchen - never mentioned a kitchen.
I want to construct a slightly bigger cupboard where the normal dandy cupboard is (the one the wardrobe sits on)
I just want to know where you can purchase the materials from faced ply or what ever it is dandy used.
If you want to know it is for a toilet.

I plan to visit dandy in the next few days so I will ask ian. Just thought somebody might know a souce close to manchester.

The vist to dandy is to buy some roof pole brackets I am going to add 3 more poles to my destiny 1 either end as there is not one over the sleeping compartments. The other will be next to one of them to be used as a clothes hanger.
This is the first dandy we have had with a wardrobe it is too heavy and difficult to use.
I will be storing it together with the origanal cuboard for when we come to sell it.

This may sound daft but have a look in Ikea, I got the stuff for my shelf from the bargain area for £4. They have a section where they put all the ex display stuff that's been pulled apart and you can get some really good bargains as they sell the bits of as individual pieces. usually on the floor where the checkouts are

No you didn't mention kitchen I made that jump of logic(?) all on my own. I'd not thought of the side cupboards.
Right so things are up to you I don't know what the cupboard as in seat or side storage cupboards are made of, if it's a substantial 3mm ply or a specialist thin ply. Then it depends how you want to construct the cupboard and the trade off of weight against substance.
If your choice is 3mm then a simple yellow pages search on timber supplies or plywood will find your nearest supplier. If you want a finish other than birch faced ply it's a bit more of a sort through. The harder search is if you want a specialist material.
You might ask Ian about what they used when you are there.
Though in extremis an 8' X 4' sheet of ply could be ratchet strapped to the top of your Destiny, transporting 8' X 4' sheets is a pain.
If you can work out your cutting list in advance getting the ply pre cut could be an idea and ply pre cut on big tables is always bang on square.
If however you joinery is closer to my level of ability you could still consider pre cut but allow yourself a 1" margin or there abouts so you just need to trim to fit.

I seem to have done all but answer your original question but the question of supplier is dependant on what material you want.
e.g. I looked high and low for a supplier of the phenolic coated ply for the exterior of an old Dandy and it was Helen who found someone close to her.
So first determine what Dandy used or what you want to substitue instead.

Just a thought. Is there any way you could swap the kitchen cupboard with the chest of drawers, as drawers are so useful. Alternatively, just keep the potti in the kitchen cupboard and retain the chest of drawers.
