We've just got our first Dandy!

Post by babsinthewood on Mon 25 Mar 2013, 2:49 pm

So last year we went camping on Wenlock Edge. A trailer rolls up and (whizz, bang, wallop) they fold out a Dandy. Within 10 minutes they're drinking a cuppa. I've wanted a dandy ever since; last month we bought one on ebay (Dandy delta) all the way from Burnley.
Trouble is we can't get it out and play with it yet. (And I'm really desperate to play houses!). For some reason my hubby doesn't want to try it out first time in the snow. Anyhow I think I've persuaded him that barring actual blizzards we're going for a trial run next week.

I'm not really sure what's inside yet as we haven't fully opened it out. I know its got insulated walls. And some kind of electric heater (looks like a plinth heater in the photos).

Anyway, hi to all you happy sounding people, and I might have a few questions soon!

Dandy's are the best and probably one of the most unknown camping units, we got ours after seeing one on a site too

Congratulations on finding out about them Suspect and finding your Dandy

on your purchase, we prefer camping in the winter as it's warmer than staying at home, and its
's usually quieter. lol!

Many thanks for all your kind replies. We STILL haven't taken her out yet (definitely a her, but haven't named her yet). I did say, "when it stops snowing", but so far it hasn't! I know it'll be toasty inside but husband doesn't believe me. However, I just bought some gorgeous vintage melaware plates in a lovely eggy yellow, from a charity shop for £3. Think they'll look lovely in the Dandy. And looked very hard at some bunting the other day. Some of you girls will know exactly where I'm coming from here.
You chaps will be rolling your eyes Rolling Eyes

Definitely know where your coming from, having just bought quite a few bits and pieces to 'pimp' our new Dandy Olivia. If you have a look at the video in the Gallery you'll see what I mean! In fact my hubbie said to me last weekend as he was packing everything away that I CANNOT buy anything else for her - mean man.

I'm sure once you do get out in your new baby your husband will soon see how warm Dandy's are, I was a very reluctant out of season camper, but having been away in November & last weekend and been as warm as toast I am converted to all year camping! Hope you manage to get away soon Smile

If I'd have been looking at bunting ..... it'd be at home now waiting for Dandy use lol!

I love it when people personalise Dandy's even when it's only with accessories .... usually stuff we don't need but make it look oh so pretty, us lady's like to make a Dandy a home yours is going to be very lovely and it doesn't have to cost lots either Very Happy
