Dandy folding camper keeping the flies out

Post by mike on Thu 30 Jun 2011, 5:56 pm

Originally we had one of those multi plastic strip door blinds,we liked it and thought it matched the dandy but the slightest breeze and it was all over the place.had seen these mesh strip type at shops like b&m for £14 but being tight thought i could get one cheaper, any way i did £10 while we were in Norfolk.
You get four strips of mesh with weights on the bottom and a bit of a naff way of fixing them in place,it works but there should be a better way,the top bar is designed to be a permanent fixture which i felt would not be a good idea, luckily on the six it sits nicely on the wardrobe top and an the hoop frame, other dandys may need a little thought though.
At the moment we trying it with only three strips but if it doesn't work properly will fit the fourth one, which would give each one more overlap.

3 strips seems wide enough for your doorway

i like the idea though fitting one to my dandy would need some head scratching Smile

Keeping the flies out

Got one of these mesh screens, as Mike describes, today at Aldi, Dumfries, for £3.99. Came complete with a velcro fixing strip to give the option of temporary fixing. Have fitted it to our static caravans door frame and it must be said that it works a treat and with just three of the four strips. Also seems to be big daft hairy dog proof and if our special needs mutt can navigate it without damage it must be sound. Never thought of Dandy usage. Wish I'd got two now!

Luckily Olivia's previous owner has put one of those over the door and meshed over the opening kitchen window as well. They really had thought if everything, I think they're brilliant.
