replacement roof

Post by johninbyron on Thu 30 Jan 2014, 7:23 am

my roof is now past using ,last time out I had to add holes to let the gathering water out , from between the layers, just above the end wooden wall, 1/2 a gallon at least.
I have a "5"
any idea's on the least expensive replacement ?
Has anybody constructed there own ?
I was thinking of using the multilayer Mylar insulation( as my brother has a roll lying about )in a Tube of PVC.
Does anyone know what weight was originally used?
Is there any reason that the roof is just to short to cover the gap between end wall and bed board (the bungee end) ,or is that only my one?

Just tried interrogating eBay and Gumtree. Someone has been trying to sell a roof, it's been for sale at least twice.

Ian has an old Dandy. Or did have last year with a bust frame that is beyond economic repair but I don't know what size.

I'd hold out for a week or two to see if we see the ad again.

Can you find the punctures in the roof? On the basis that you can't make it more bust if there are just one or two holes rather than mass perforation you and could put the roof somewhere to dry. Then you could have a go at the roof with some PVC patches and some HH-66 adhesive.

As for the roof gap some are closer than others as far as I can see.

I'm sure I saw a Dandy recently that came with a spare roof,  probably on ebay. You never know the person who bought the Dandy may just sell the spare roof on soon.

I thought our roof didn't fit properly at first but we found that by standing back and lifting the roof away from the Dandy (bungee end) and then giving it a tug before lowering and fixing with the bungee's it fits.

The one with the spare roof was sold,it was this one.

Our roof on Phoenix seems to have shrunk a bit and doesn't get over far enough letting rain seep into the bed base / seat side.

To over come this we use a strip of 6" DPM tucked under the roof and inside the bat wings to cover the exposed bit.

Hope this helps.  Smile

All I can think is that the seller does place quite a lot on eBay.
You might ask a question on their next sale and see if they will pass your phone number onto the buyer.

Can see you on line.

Are you getting anywhere with the roof. Might have an Idea.
