Dandy tailer tent compact BBQs Empty Dandy tailer tent compact BBQs

The one we have been using is quiet compact it fits in the bunk storage but we always felt we could do with something smaller,it was a bargain £8 at tesco about three years ago,it was new out and we thought that looks ok for that price, the next week it was £16 its very similar to the one below.

Today we saw this one in asda again £8 but it is more compact and the legs stay attached just fold in,i have included my phone in the picture for scale,

i bought one like this from tesco this year, it's compact but quite slow to warm up and as i found at petwood, some sites want you to have bbqs that are further off the ground, although having used this twice, it doesn't cause any damage to the grass

He wouldn't really Mike, our last one would have though Laughing Still I wouldn't want to put temptation too close. Some sites do insist on a certain height of BBQ but some sites do have a small stack of bricks that you can borrow to raise yours if its too low.

Dandy tailer tent compact BBQs Empty Light weight BBQ

Some years ago we bought a 'Cobb' BBQ. (Sorry I seem to be having problems getting a photo to copy across but just google 'Cobb BBQs') They certainly aren't a cheap option but it has proved to be worth its money as, despite regular usage, it's still in cracking condition. These are the same piece of kit that 'The Hairy Bikers' use for many of their outdoor sessions and really are an excellent little BBQ/oven. Made primarily from stainless steel, they can be table mounted as the outside of the body doesn't get hot. They can even be used indoors provided there's plenty of ventilation (& after the charcoal gets going). Big enough to feed 4 people easily and uses only a handful of charcoal for a couple of hours cooking. The dome makes them great for roasting and baking and the results have always been succulent. Cleaning them after use is probably the biggest problem. All the fat collects in an integral 'moat' and its easier to dispose of this with kitchen roll before emptying out the ash and giving it a scrub. We usually make up a few kits of charcoal and firelighters in a plastic bag to take with us and then use the bag for fatty kitchen role and ash after use. The whole kit goes in a purpose made bag for storage and takes up relatively little room. Is it 'over the top' for camping? Possibly so when there are so many other cheaper alternatives but they are good and we wouldn't like to be without it.

somewhat related I also like the look of the firepit tripod cooking system - can be a bit expensive but would be good for places that allow open fires

We got our bbq in a B&Q sale years ago, they still do them now in the summer. It folds like a suitcase but has long legs and when you want to use it for a fire you just take the side bits off so you can shut the lid on the hot embers when you've finished. It's also a good height so no bending when cooking, you can sort of see it [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] being used for a fire log with the lid fully open in fire mode Laughing if I can find a better picture of it I'll post it but you can see it's not a bad height.
