just wanted to say hi

Post by stephanie on Fri 22 Jul 2011, 7:45 am

First time i have used a forum. Hi to all. Was given a Dandy dart few years back as person had nowhere to store.
It is in not bad nick. Hadn't used it too much apart from 7 days each year to help at a Pony Club camp. Last year did a weekend camp too. Got a few jokes, but each time unfold dandy out people are intrigued and converted. Now wish to go out and about bit more. Sad thing is that the awning had been got to by the mice and had to dispose of that so now really need an awning as life a bit too damp and squashed without one. Do have all the poles tho. Smile Great forum

Hi Steph, you were lucky being given a Dandy. We all get strange looks on site while we set up but your right people are fascinated by Dandy's and easily converted. As for your awning take a look in our alternative awnings thread or maybe you could find something to fit your frame and alter it a bit, perhaps a small caravan awning.

Welcome Steph most of us are friendly you just have to watch Eilis she has started picking on me lol! so we dont know where that will end.
How difficult your awning search will be can depend on what type of fit you want to your dandy, there are quiet a few drive away awnings that would give some type of fit,its the perfect fit that can prove elusive.

Post by stephanie on Fri 22 Jul 2011, 6:54 pm

thanks all, and helen will follow up the royal traveller as this seems to be in keeping with the look of the dandy. Will keep you posted. Hopefully, in keeping with the freeby Dandy I may be able to get a bargain on ebay!!

Here is one on ebay, there are also a few Royal traveller 2 awnings on but the one we used was a 3. I also don't like the fact that he hasn't had it out of the bag so you have no idea of the condition but here is the link

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

And another doesn't say if its a 2 or a 3 though

Hello Steph

Rather than offer you awning suggestions, I thought I'd ask you what is the awning getting hitched to?

Do you know the size and type of your Dandy.

If your at a bit of a loss to answer this try. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Oh and hello as well.

Hi Kevin in the first post it says steph has a dart and that is why I suggested a Royal traveller Very Happy Before buying one if Steph lives within striking distance she is welcome to see if mine would fit her dandy or even try the cover over the awning frame that she has to be sure before buying anything. I spent a small fortune trying to find something that would not only fit but look okay too. It may be that she needs a Royal traveller 2 for a Dart and if that's the case it's best to check it all out first.

So she did, and it's not like it's joined up writing that I can blame things on either.
Sorry Steph, I'll try and give you the courtesy of reading your posts properly in future.
If I had more sense I'd have learnt that when in a hole you stop digging, but it is a Dart isn't it Steph?
Having read many adverts for Darts that weren't, just as contrary to public opinion not all Reliants are Robins!

Now it's not that I want to change the subject or anything. Amazing cricket yesterday wasn't it.

You do have a point Kevin about knowing what the dandy is, at a meet I was once told that a 4 was a 4/ 5 by someone. Question

Thanks to all of you with your suggestions re awning. I have just got one from ebay. I think i saw the one you mentioned Helen and thought the same. It is not a movelite or royal as these were either too far away to collect or i missed on a bid or they were too expensive for me at the mo. Just getting up the courage to deal with the all the poles and ropes to put the awning up in the garden before we go away next week - always a good idea i guess. If this one does the job great- if it is not ideal i will just move it on and keep looking and will know what to look ..... The dandy is a dart 4 4/5 made in 1982 although not sure what the /5 is for as a child would fall off and an adult wouldn't stand a chance!. Reading through the forums has given me great incentive to appreciate the dandy and to make a few home improvements. Insulation looks a good idea as mine doesn't have it and last Sept we really suffered with condensation so a bit of insulation might help with this. Will post some photos when we have set the whole thing up and will let you know how we got on with the awning. Its a shame the old awning was got by the mice/rats but have a feeling that it wuold have been really heavy to set up and by trying to find something that would do I have found you guys. Very Happy

By the way, have got 'roller bars' that came with the dandy - does anyone have an idea what these are for? They have got wheels on. Question

Steph.

I've not got a clue what these "Roller Bars" are, but I do like a puzzle.

Any chance of photos and, or dimensions?
