Think this would be ideal for our Xmas and New Year camping trip!

A trip to Lidls may be in order here cyclops

It looks good, however, we almost always are strictly gas, in 6 years, have only been hooked up 3 times.

Mike im a bit...well very dim on such things but this oven would take quite a bit of power, how do you get on with the hook up and things like this, Ive never camped with a microwave for example? Do you have to unplug other stuff while using them?

Power is 1380 watts. It would take 6A at normal 230v, leaving 4Amps or 920watts to play with on a 10A EHU, 10A (2.3Kw) to spare on a 16A hook up according to basic electrical theory Idea

We have only ever used gas in the Dandy.
Desmond does seem to have plenty of 12v and 230 or is it 240 sockets.
The thing is, the 230 are sticky out ones, not flush, so O/H will change them, as I am clumsy, and will be forever knocking my ankles on them.
We did buy a similar oven to this, but never used it once, and so gave it to a charity shop.

As Jake has said it could be used on all sites, just occasionally it may be a problem on 6 amp but we dont come across many 6 amp sites now, with out getting too technical watts are arrived at by a simple calculation Watts = Amps x Volts so if you had 6amp at 240volt you would have 6x240 giving 1440 watts, the only reason i say most off the time on 6amp is you often dont get 240vot because of various reasons,so if the supply was down to 225 volt it would be 6amp x 225 volt giving 1350 watts.

Hope i have that right Kevin Very Happy he always checks my calculations for me lol!

Well as Jake says we're notionally now on 230 volts but the electricity supply is still 240 volts because that is within spec and if the power companies reduced voltages they would end up selling less electric. If the supply got down to 225 volts it would still be within spec as that is now 230v +/- 10%.

What actually happens is that the item will actually consume less power as well on a lower voltage. To illistrate I'll show the reverse condition.

When we start to get 230v rated appliances and they are run at 240v

Volts = Current X Resistance normally expressed as V=IR
If V increases from 230 to 240 The resistance doesn't change so I changes so I2= I1 X 240/230
So I increases by 4.35%

Then Watts = Volts X Amps so both the Voltage and the current have increased in the ratio 240/230 so the total power is up by 8.9%

So in effect the 3KW 230v electric fire is now running at 3.27KW

Good job incandescent bulbs are being phased out they would need changing nearly twice as often as the increase in voltage would reduce their life to 55% of design.

For future reference Mike. I'm an untrained amateur at this. Please direct future points to Jake and Vicky both are infinitely more qualified. They would know off the top of their heads what I have to struggle with and look up.

Bet you have known this all along it;s just a conspiracy to see me struggle.

OMG...I think I have followed that lot!!! affraid Thanks everyone for your info, the main 2 sites we use are 16amp and we have never had it trip before but as I said we have never tried running a large appliance like the oven. I would love this oven as it seems to be ideal for us as a family on a longer trip. Once again, thanks guys!
