Ours is stored under the Dandy Cazz, it's not in a cage just a threaded bar metal disc and bolt.

John and another Dandy that I have seen pics of have them on the side of their Dandy's dropped into what looks like a metal strip with straps across. This link shows another one with spare on the side. I have only seen this done with Dandy's with external wheels and never with recessed, probably because it will affect the width.

If you decide to put yours on the Dandy, I would put it just under the trailer cover in some sort of protective bag, lots of Dandy's get permanently marked from spare wheel stains.

I don't know if you have a locker on the A frame of your Dandy but could you find some way of fixing the spare to that, or to the frame perhaps even that end of the Dandy

Split this from the wheel arches thread as it is something that deserves it's own and will be more visible to people looking. Smile

That's interesting and if it would work it would be a really simple option, ours is under the Dandy but it can be a struggle to get it off.

Were you considering drilling the existing frame or welding plate on to form suitable brackets?

You may have to change things some how as that's meant for a single draw bar in box section running central you may have to bolt a box section across the aframe. If you bolted it to one side of the aframe it could lead to a twisting effect, not sure of any of this but just my observations.

Do you have a front box, if not would it lay on the aframe with a bar in the wheel and one under the aframe bolted together dont know if there is enough room or not.

Or as the box is without a floor, insert [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] through box and round the A frame.

I'm concious that the gap from the A frame to the brake "gubbins" (well known technical term) is limited. Better mounted on nearside rather than far. Might not br sufficient clearance especially for a Destiny's (6) larger wheel?

D'oh when you were talking about two pieces of plate (flat bar?) did you mean to mount the wheel within the A or use bolts to clamp the bar across the A but extend the bar to one side beyond the A to mount the wheel there? Therefore allowing clearance for the diameter of the larger wheel.

I see no reason why not but i would be looking to fix a mounting to the chassis ends and then bring them up against the body work.

I may look at that myself later in the year, the chassis ends do go to the very back of the body so shouldn't be too hard to do

Cazz

Might be a rude question to ask a lady but how is your box mounted?
I might be more inclined to lift off the box and attach bracketing to the A frame and replace the box.
The A frame is of far thicker section metal than the main body of the frame. Also your not drilling holes into relatively thin box section steel which is an invitation to internal rust.
With the proviso of clearing the brake gubbins I'm drawn to bracketing the A frame.
Not forgetting the A frame is formed from [ section steel so the bar does not have to span top to bottom to form a clamp. short flats can be bolted to the main piece of bar to form clamps on the flats of the A frame.
I realise a diagram would be really useful at this point.
